Annie Sanchez is a strategist, culture builder, and artist with deep expertise in experience design, resource development, hospitality, and business.

Her body of work is rooted in three distinct practices: community building, multidisciplinary strategy, and courageous imagination. What ties them together is care. Care is the foundation from which she leads, teaches, lives, and moves through the world.

Most recently, Sanchez built and leads Mariposa Strategies, a boutique leadership and personal development company centering justice-oriented leaders, people of color, and non-conforming teams in their vital roles in society through strategic thought partnership, coaching, and community-building. Here she has advised hundreds of artists, movement builders, nonprofit, and philanthropy leaders across the US to help them realize ambitious ideas.

She built a successful company from the ground up with a beloved national membership program, extraordinary in-person retreats, myriad marketing strategies and campaigns, leveraging digital and traditional media, and delivering transformative services for organizations, focused on change management, conflict, restorative care, and personal growth.

Before that, she was Director of New Mexico’s largest nonprofit capacity-building organization, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence (now Groundworks New Mexico), where she drove business planning, strategic marketing campaigns, and cultivated partnerships to support the organization’s next chapter. She worked closely with leaders in the nonprofit, philanthropy and government sectors to galvanize collective change in New Mexico.

Earlier in her career, Sanchez learned from top restauranteurs in NYC, including Danny Myers to Drew Nieporent. She managed vibrant restaurants in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and consulted front of house operations.

Sanchez co-founded the statewide fundraising initiative, Giving Tuesday NM, and co-chaired Planned Parenthood of New York City’s Activist Council.

She has served on the advisory board of Building Movement Project, as an advisor to artists and business owners through initiatives with the City of Albuquerque’s Arts & Culture Department, worked with Roanhorse Consulting, coached leaders at Native Women Lead, Native Americans in Philanthropy, and Alliance for Justice, among others.

Presently, she serves as a private coach to leaders in the nonprofit and philanthropy space, and operations and culture advisor to movement-based arts and climate teams.

Raised in Santa Fe, she pursued a BFA in art studio at the University of New Mexico, received a certificate in fundraising from New York University, and has lived in the Bay Area, LA, Brooklyn, and Honolulu.

Annie currently lives in New Mexico and exploring relocation to the Bay Area or NYC.
